The Best Birthday Ever...

My 22nd birthday was on April 25th and it was by far the best ever!! On April 18th the Boyce’s took me out for my birthday dinner at Cheesecake Factory…which is one of my most favorite places! On Saturday April 24th my wonderful husband gave me my new purse, tickets to Tim McGraw, and a watch. Later that day he took me to lunch (at Plates and Palates), shopping, a movie (Date Night), and to dinner (at California Pizza Kitchen, another favorite). Then on my actual birthday my Grandma Gerda made me my usual birthday dinner. On that following Friday my dad took me out to dinner at El Burrito. Thank you to all my wonderful families for making my “birth-week” so great.
This might sound like just another typical birthday, but there was something else that made it that more special. On April 21st I found out that we are expecting!!!! This is pretty much the reason it has taken me so long to post anything because it was still so early that I wasn’t ready to announce it. We are 9 weeks tomorrow and couldn’t be happier. We had our first doctor’s appointment on May 7th (I was about 7 weeks), and went back on May 20th for our first ultrasound. Everything went great. We heard the heartbeat and the nurse said everything looked to be healthy. This pregnancy has been so easy, well so far…I haven’t been sick at all which I’m so grateful for. My due date is exactly December 25th and I’m hoping I go before then. Right after I found out I knew that I couldn’t post about it yet so I wrote down a couple feelings I had in my journal so I could remember just how I felt in that moment. Here is the entry from my journal…

April 27th, 2010

So I’ve been meaning to write this for a while now, but for some reason I’ve had the hardest time trying to put what I’ve been feeling the last 6 days into words. After some much needed time I finally feel as though my thoughts and feelings have been collected and that I can express just how I feel about this wonderful occasion. On April 21st I found out that I’m pregnant!! After being late about 4 or 5 days I finally got the courage to take a pregnancy test. I can remember being so nervous to take it because I was so worried about being disappointed, but after anxiously waiting the longest 3 minutes of my life I finally saw those 2 pink lines. I couldn’t believe my eyes; I seriously thought I was imagining it. I ran down the stairs and with my hands and voice shaking with shock I told Dallas I thought I was pregnant. He took one look at it agreed with me. I took about 5 more tests before it really hit me though. We are so excited and couldn’t be more grateful to bring this baby into our lives. Excited, nervous, scared, happy etc. are all emotions that I’m currently feeling every day. We had been trying to get pregnant for what seemed forever and after months of it not working I felt like just giving up. So when I got this amazing news that I’m pregnant it was the most shocking thing ever because I wasn’t ready to believe it. Words truly can’t express how happy I am that we are able to have this baby. I want our baby to know that even though I haven’t even met you yet we love you so very much and we can’t wait to meet you!!!

Happy Late Birthday Mom...

My mom's birthday was on 05/05/10...I hope you had a wonderful birthday!! Thank you for all you do and the example you have been to me. WE LOVE YOU!!!

2 Year Wedding Anniversary...

For our anniversary this year we were going to go to Seattle, but it sort of fell through. So instead we decided to go to Park City for a mini vacation. we went up on 05/07/10 after my doctor's appointment, and we started our getaway at the outlet mall for a little shopping. We then went up to our hotel to get checked in, and found a place for dinner. We went to a really good place called Main Street Pizza and Noodle. We only went up for the night, but it was so nice just to get away for the weekend. I love my wonderful husband so much...he always does so much for me and I appreciate him so much for making me so happy. I LOVE YOU...thank you for the best 2 years and many more to come!!

Walking down Main Street

Of course I needed a caramel apple so we went to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and got the most delicious caramel apple ever.

Conference...

This last weekend was conference weekend...and I just want to take a "journal" moment and express some feelings I have.

I have to say after listening to this conference I want to strive to be better. And boy are there a lot of things that I could be better at. It's sad to say, but this was probably the first time I actually made it a point to listen to conference. In the past I've always used it as an excuse to not go to church and to sleep in, but after this weekend my eyes were opened to the importance of it. Growing up I can remember my mom always having it on no matter if we were at home or in the car. And I want to tell my mom thank you for that...even though I may not have acted like I cared, I now look up to her for doing just that very thing. I noticed that, even if I wasn't really paying attention or were doing other things, by just having it on throughout the house made my home feel a lot more peaceful and there was a happy atmosphere!! Ultimately, 'true happiness' comes from being close to the spirit, and I feel that lately I haven't been as close as I should be. I started justifying not going to church every week, but now I clearly see by going to church every week is the very thing a person needs to remain close to the spirit. Also, attending the temple is a big one...we definitely don't go as often as we should and I want to start making a more conscious effort to attend the temple. Another thing I need to work on is to start making my visiting teaching an important part of my spiritual growth.

I feel that with doing better in these areas it will definitely help me to become a better person, get closer to the spirit and feel that feeling of true happiness. I'm so blessed to have a husband that honors his priesthood and wants to achieve the same things in life! I love my family so much...and again want me my mom to know how much I appreciate her example to me when it comes to the gospel.

**I think this is a good time to say that my new temple picture came yesterday...it turned out so good and I'm so happy I got it**

Happy Easter...

We had such a great Easter holiday on Sunday. We went to Oakridge, with the Boyce's, for brunch, then we went up to Grandma Gerda's to see my family. After afternoon conference we went to my dad's for dinner. I love getting to spend time with all of our families!!

{I didn't get a picture with the Boyce's or my dad's family ):}

Snow?? Really...

Last night I walked outside to go get my mail and this is what I saw...

Really...seriously? I'm so sick of this Utah weather. It needs to warm up quick because I'm so very ready for warmer weather.
